Yes I know there are plenty of posts out there for festival fashion inspiration but I reckon half of these people have never been to a festival, well not a real festival in my opinion. A real festival is where most of the time you’re caked in muck and dry shampoo is your best friend. You rip off your clothes to get some vitamin D when the sun shines and dash to your tent for you waterproofs as the heavens open and rain cascades over your sun burnt face. I’ve been there, made mistakes and seen worse mistakes.

So here here are my tips:

1. Do not wear a playsuit unless it’s something like dungarees which you can VERY easily unbutton and pull down when going to the bathroom. You are always in a rush, you’re either missing your favourite band playing or your friends are waiting on you, probably drunk and likely to wander off without you – speed is of the essence.

2. I would even go as far as to warn you off skirts of any kind, the last thing you want is to flash a whole crowd your knickers as you’re tipsily bopping (raving) to the music or perhaps slip in a huge mud puddle.

3. You can never have too many socks.

4. Even if its a sunny festival wellies are a good idea in my books. if you’re wear sandals your toes will be crippled from jumping crowds and wobbily drunks, bring an alternative in case your feet get to hot and sweaty in wellies but they can be a real life saver.

5. Layers are the key, although it’s summer in Ireland and England the nights can be ferEEZING. I’ve learnt this the hard way, bring one cuddly hoody for sleeping in or for general night-time antics. Other than that, layer with vest tops and t-shirts. Keeping a vest top on as abase layer is always good if you don’t fancy getting naked when changing in a tent full of people.

6. Sunglasses, cool as they may be are also essential. Make sure they are proper UV protected, cheap ones will not have this.

Here are a few of my slightly practical and cool-as-fuck looks that i’ll be channeling come June:

This year i’ll be heading to toasty Croatia for my festival adventures this summer to see foremost of all Arctic Monkeys. Maybe i’ll be able to leave the waterproofs at home (?).

The Melbourne based online magazine ‘Pony Anarchy’ is now one year old. I love the concept of online fashion magazines, although at times it is hard to read long section on your laptop screen and nothing beats the feels of the glossy pages of your favourite magazine, it is a great resource for those of us who don’t find it practical to spend around €5 weekly on something we read through in under an hour. For the girls out there wasting money of expensive issues of advertisement filled Vogue, I suggest you give it a go, there are tons springing up to suit all tastes.

Returning to the subject of focus, Pony Anarchy is an independent online magazine which performs as a platform for young and unique talent of art, music and fashion. The recent Yearbook celebrates and acknowledges the many contributors to each issue of photographers and artists. I discovered the magazine as the 5th issue was released, and was in awe at the photography and genuinity of each piece. And now, having read the backlog and subsequent releases I can vouch that I love each issue more than the last. The quirky, modern and often fantastical photo shoots really inspire and re-ignite my love in fashion as a kind of art form. Overall the pieces can have a quirky free people-esque feel, but also often incorporate retro themes with modern twists which I love in particular. The frequent interviews with photographers and models are heartwarming as they often focus on the people as individuals, delving into their background and other interests which gives the reader a greater understanding of the work which is featured in the pieces.

Christmas came, Christmas went and suddenly New Years Eve night was upon me. Having made a substantial order in the Asos sale a few days previous I refused to buy a new dress for the occasion so I delved into my wardrobe and came out clutching the dress I bought for a birthday in October. This black beauty consists of a see-through lace over layer attached to a tight black slip and was purchased from Pull & Bear, a store which I have only began to frequent lately. As I was working till six that night I had approximately an hour to get ready so stayed pretty safe by pairing it with a black studded clutch and nude pumps (a vain attempt to make my legs look slimmer..fail.) I went to a club in a nearby town which turned out pretty wild and great. What did you all get up to?

She’s everywhere, right? Everyone is jumping on the Stone bandwagon and swooning over her down to earth personality and charismatic humor. Sure these things are great and from what I’ve seen, true but let’s take a moment to admire her simple and classic style. Ignoring the red carpet events for which celebrities are dressed by personal stylists and designers, I love looking at their everyday style.  Stone keeps is easy and comfortable by sticking to warm layers and dark wash jeans while on her travels whether in the city or the airport. Although the below looks aren’t anything extraordinary I love them to bits as causal simplicity is right up my alley. Take note of her keys pieces such a chunky knit and how she mix-matches different pieces from her wardrobe.

Here are two more outfits I styled during my part-time internship, all the details are below if you’re interested. I think the top outfit is my favourite, the red against the leather incredible and the clutch is really delicate with beautiful colours interwoven with metallic thread.
